Meet the rest of my team.....

Across Tamworth people are represented by four councillors. Three sit on Tamworth Borough Council and one Staffordshire County Council, however the boundaries of the wards do not match so opposite ends of the Tamworth Borough Council wards can have different County Councillors.

The rest of the Belgrave team looks like this -

The team consists of Councillor Steven Nicklin, County Councillor John Wells & Tamworth MP Christopher Pincher.

Christopher Pincher – Tamworth MP

Christopher Pincher, MP for Tamworth

About Christopher
Christopher was born in 1969 in Walsall and grew up in Wombourne near Wolverhampton. He studied history at the London School of Economics before joining a major IT consultancy firm. A Midlander through and through, Christopher is committed to the Tamworth constituency.

Christopher's interests range far wider than just community politics. He likes golf, although he has not played so much since becoming Tamworth's Conservative candidate, horse racing, grand prix (watching not driving!) and laughing at "Dead Ringers."

Christopher's Experience
Since he joined the Conservatives in 1987, Christopher has campaigned hard for the Britain he believes in. He believes strongly in local communities where people look after one another, support their local schools and hospitals, respect common traditions and stand together against the threat of crime and anti-social behaviour.

A firm advocate of community involvement, he has served as a governor of North Westminster Community School, one of the most cosmopolitan schools in the country. Christopher is also a member of Tamworth’s Hodge Lane nature reserve and regularly attends such local events as the Canwell Show.

Christopher believes that Labour has let down Britain. He feels that Tony Blair's promises have been squandered in too many spin-filled years leaving people cynical about him and his brand of politics. Christopher wants to see honest and fair government restored to Britain.

Christopher's Commitment
After the General Election in May 2005 when he came within a whisker of beating Labour, Christopher is determined to keep campaigning in Tamworth, Shenstone, Stonnall, Little Aston and villages in the Mease Valley. He is not going to walk away from local people. He is staying on. Christopher says: "When I was at school, I learned that "if at first you don't succeed try, try again". That is what I am doing. I am determined to keep working in Tamworth and local villages."

Conservatives - Working for Tamworth, Shenstone, Stonnall, Little Aston & Mease Valley.

Conservatives won Tamworth borough in June 2004 after 17 years of Labour control. Now, the new Conservative team is working hard to repair the damage wrought by years of Labour mismanagement. We are determined to restore civic pride in Tamworth and listen to what local people want to see in their town.

And in Lichfield district we have one of the best Conservative controlled councils in the Midlands with an excellent record on green issues. Shenstone & Wall, Stonnall, Little Aston and villages in the Mease Valley are all in the Tamworth constituency.

Christopher is determined to speak up on the issues that really matter to local people:

· More police on the beat to protect local communities

· Extra mobile CCTV to track down and crack down on crime

· Better school discipline and better support for students (under Labour, Staffordshire's schools are the 5th worst funded in England)

· Cleaner hospital wards so the MRSA super-bug is kept out of the Robert Peel hospital

· Better support for our independent Staffordshire Ambulance Service

· More recognition for the rural community around Tamworth

He is also leading a high profile "clean up" campaign to get the litter of local streets and inspire more pride in the local community. Christopher's clean up team are regularly out and about in Tamworth and local villages. Watch out for their local leaflets and for more details in the Tamworth Herald and Lichfield Mercury.

The local Conservative team is young, enthusiastic and growing. Three local councillors are aged under 30 and there is a strong "Conservative Future" branch. Tamworth's Conservatives are determined to show that there is an honest local alternative to Labour.

Christopher says: "I believe in honest government, spoken in plain language, delivering the services people need whilst keeping out of their everyday lives. The only way to get that kind of government is to vote out the current one."
